Sutton's MPs have said they will vote in favour of bombing Isis terrorists in Syria ahead of today’s debate in Parliament.

Today MPs Paul Scully and Tom Brake said they will back air strikes against murderous Islamic State militants, after thousands of protesters gathered in Parliament Square yesterday to oppose military action.

The move would expand the UK's current military action in Iraq into Syria where US, French and Russian forces are carrying out bombings in Isis stronghold Raqqa and other areas.

Paul Scully, MP for Sutton and Cheam said: "Daesh are a threat to our national security, and after the attacks in Paris, their abilities to cause untold terror in the western world has become evident.

"The deaths of Mohamed Emwazi, Ruhul Amin and Reyaad Khan in Syria, who were plotting attacks on UK soil, show the threat we face lies there.

"Eliminating the territorial claims of Daesh will protect the thousands of Muslims in Syria that are being killed and displaced, cut off the funding of Daesh through oil sales and fatally undermine the credibility of the so-called caliphate which relies on territory for that claim, enabling them to draw in yet more extremists."

Tom Brake, MP for Wallington and Carshalton, said: "After much reflection I am supporting military action.

"Daesh is throwing gay people from the top of buildings, raping and enslaving women and girls and beheading Syrians and foreigners alike.

"I am confident that we will see cooperation in the fight against Daesh from the different countries in the Middle East along with Russia, Iran, Turkey and Western countries.

"I believe that through further negotiations we will see a larger, multi-national effort to degrade Daesh and remove their influence from the Middle East."
