A drone has captured stunning aerial footage of the South Point development and surrounding scenic Sutton.

Fred Anthony, from aerial photography company DemoVision, filmed the ageing skyscraper between Sutton train station and Sutton Court Road this week.

Diggers can be seen flattening the surrounding land and excavating the basement level.

The drone scales the height of the building and gives viewers an aerial tour of the surrounding town centre.

Work on the development to make way for more than 300 apartments, a 130-bedroom hotel, plus shops, restaurants and offices began in September.

But developer CNM Estates says the original plan, to convert the tower into flats, are no longer feasible.

Tonight, councillors will debate whether to allow the Kingston-based company to demolish the building and put up an apartment hotel.

Work on the project is expected to finish in 2018.
