I am writing with regard to the article where the hospital has admitted gross negligence, with fatal consequences for George Robson (Unacceptable care, May 27).
Is nobody going to get into trouble? Arrested, sacked, struck off, fined, etc? Any compensation for Mrs Robson? A guy is dead as a result.
Or do they just get a pass so long as they say, “We are deeply sorry, and lessons have been learned”?
Also, you mentioned that Mrs Robson “had fought to bring the circumstances of her husband’s death to light”.
This implies the hospital had not been forthcoming, and some pressure and/or intervention had to be brought to bear to get at what happened.
Is this the case, so far as you know? If so, seems they are mainly sorry they got caught.
Sorry if my tone seems directed at you – it is certainly not; I am just gobsmacked.
You are doing a good job, by the way. I did local news once upon a time.
