A competition to find the next big thing in fashion has been launched as part of Croydon business month.
The Made in Croydon contest invites designers aged under 30 to create a new brand, with original artwork, to adorn a merchandise including caps, hoodies and t-shirts.
It is organised by Croydon-based embroidery, print and design company UR-iD.co.uk, and the winner will have their designs sold on the UR-iD website.
Cabinet member for economic development Councillor Toni Letts said: “This is a great opportunity for any up and coming designers that need a platform on which to promote their label.
“Croydon business month is about helping aspiring entrepreneurs a foot on the ladder, and this competition is a great way of enabling that to happen for one of the borough’s talented designers.”
Finalists will be invited to the Croydon Emporium in Church Street to showcase their ideas to a panel of judges.
Judges include Mehmet Aray, the brand manager of UR-iD.co.uk, Leon Rowe from Born Star Clothing and former Britain’s Got Talent contestant DJ Talent.
The deadline for submissions is 5pm on October 31.
