Hundreds of people gathered in Croydon town centre today to witness a re-enactment of the Crucifixion of Jesus.
The annual event is now in its 18th year and more than 800 people turned up to witness the procession which a number of churches took part in.
There were three main processions which were led by a cross bearer.
Various scenes from the Passion were acted out through Croydon High Street and accompanied by the Choir from Croydon Minster.
The main procession from West Croydon was headed up by the Catholic Bishop the Right Reverend Paul Hendricks.
Toni Suffolk, who organised the event, said: "It is a very moving time for people. It helps them to understand about the pain of the cross and a lot of people will go away and have some quiet time afterwards.
"We got a lot of shoppers who come a long and are interested in what is going on. You get a normal crowd reaction in many ways.
"It was very moving and it really does encourage a lot of reflection."
