A policewoman has been recognised as a community hero for her outstanding policing of south Leatherhead.
PC Gaynor Grout has policed the area for a decade and once faced a violent offender who tried to escape in a vehicle.
PC Grout received the Community Heroes Award at an awards ceremony held by BBC Surrey and BBC Sussex on Wednesday night.
She said: "While I am honoured to receive such recognition I feel that all the nominees are winners and it was uplifting listening to all the worthy citations."
Mole Valley Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Rundle said: "I am absolutely delighted to hear about Gaynor´s win it is well deserved.
"She is such a dedicated officer and has a wonderful work ethic.
"She has made a huge contribution improving the quality of lives for the residents of Leatherhead and is well known in the community for her hard work."
