Daredevils looking for challenge have the opportunity to get a unique view of Croydon by abseiling down Taberner House.

Just 90 people can take part in Jump Croydon when it returns on Friday, December 6.

Past challenges, organised by Croydon Commitment have included descents down the Mott MacDonald building and Jurys Inn.

Fiona Smout, business manager of Croydon Commitment, said: "Taberner House is a 19-storey, 250ft building so this is our biggest abseil yet.

"We have been overwhelmed by enquiries, particularly from staff at Croydon Council who have worked in the iconic building, and the registrations are beginning to roll in.

"Any individuals or businesses wanting to get involved should contact us as soon as possible.

"With the jump taking place in the run-up to Christmas, we are sure there will be a really festive feel to the event and we are encouraging participants to come down in Santa hats or maybe even full Father Christmas outfits – if they are securely fitted."

The previous Jump Croydon was held in March when about 100 people raised over £14,000 for local causes supported by Croydon Commitment, by abseiling down Jurys Inn in Lansdowne Road.

Among them was 74-year-old then Deputy Mayor of Croydon Councillor Tony Harris, who was one of the quickest down.

The first abseilers will descend at 9am with the conclusion by 4pm as the sun sets. For a registration form email admin@croydoncommitment.org.uk.
