A pair of thieves who tried to steal tyres from cars have been fined £170 each.
Carshalton man Ronnie Garner, 19, and Croydon man David Allchorne, 25, were caught trying to take tyres from Northgate Vehicle Hire in Richmond Road, Croydon, on September 14, after vigilant CCTV operators spotted them in action.
The pair were arrested nearby having removed the tyres from cars and stacked them near a hole in the depot's fence ready to be picked up. They admitted theft and appeared in front of Croydon Magistrates on Monday.
Garner, of Stanley Park Road, and Allchorne, of Crispin Crescent, were ordered to pay £170 each in fines, costs and charges.
