A van was set fire last night in a suspected arson attack.
Firefighters attended the white Mercedes Sprinter at the junction with High Drive and Woodlands Avenue at 9.40pm.
Steve Preston from New Malden’s blue watch said: “It was a big van. It was a well alight with flames coming through the window.”
Police also attended the fire, which took 20 minutes to put out.
Mr Preston said: “A young girl actually saw somebody playing with the van before it happened and the person ran off.”
