Woking and Sam Beare Hospices want supporters to make a New Year’s resolution with a difference.

The hospices want people to pull on their running shoes and put their best foot forward by taking part in either the Surrey half, Brighton or London marathon next year.

The hospices currently have three places left for the London marathon and about 15 for the Brighton marathon, which both take place in April.

Phil Wormley, director of income generation at the hospices, will take part in the Hospice100 by running the Surrey half marathon on March 9.

He said: “We’ve still got places for what will be a very exciting inaugural run, and we’re hoping to get a team of 100 together, which will help make this a truly unforgettable experience.”

Natalie Dilloway, 30, from Chertsey, will be running the London marathon for the third time, to raise money for the Weybridge-based hospice where her father was for.

She said: “My family’s lives changed forever when we found out that there was nothing more the doctors could do for my dad, but the absolutely amazing and faultless care of everyone at the Sam Beare Hospice made things that bit easier for us, and I’m running to raise as much money as I can to say thank you and give something back.”
