A top barrister and part-time judge has denied perverting the course of justice in connection with the Chris Huhne speeding case.

Constance Briscoe, 56, of Crescent Grove, Clapham Common, pleaded not guilty to two charges this morning at the Old Bailey.

Briscoe is accused of altering witness statements made to police in 2012, regarding former Liberal Democrat minister Mr Huhne and his ex-wife Vicky Pryce.

It is alleged Briscoe provided police with two inaccurate statements between May 16, 2011 and October 6, 2012.

The former energy secretary Mr Huhne and his ex-wife were handed eight month prison sentences after it emerged she took driving penalty points for him a decade ago.

Both have since been released from prison.
