A father who was left with severe head injuries after an unprovoked attack by a neighbour outside Tesco Express in Hook has died.
Mark Haley went to the shops in Hook Parade to get milk in the evening on August 21, 2011, when he was punched by Michael Broom.
His injuries were so severe an air ambulance lifted him to hospital. He was still in a coma four months later.
His son Jimmy said at the time: "All of your generous words will be deeply cherished and [we] hope we can all come together and stick together in the hope Mark makes a full and successful recovery."
The former BT engineer died in a hospital in Putney on August 28 almost two years after the attack.
Broom, of Rhodrons Avenue, Chessington, behind the Haley's home in Holmwood Road, was later sentenced to a three-year prison sentence for punching Mr Haley.
Mr Haley's wife Jo said after the prison sentence: "We don’t know what’s next.
"I think Mark’s pretty much got life hanging over him so it wouldn’t have the slightest bit of difference whatever he [Broom] got."
