Internationally renowned fashion designer John Rocha will open Croydon School of Art next month.
The former Croydon College student will return to his Croydon roots when he visits on Friday, October 11, to formally relaunch Croydon School of Art.
The designer, who attended the School of Art over 30 years ago will be the guest of honour at the event.
Established in 1868 Croydon School of Art, which is part of Croydon College, was one of the top art schools in the country.
Famous alumni include Mr Rocha, musician and designer Malcolm McLaren and artist and anarchist Jamie Reid, best known for his work on the Sex Pistols album.
Many of the original traditional screen printing, etching, relief printing and letterpress equipment have been retained for use in the school's newly refurbished facilities, but students will also be able to work with the latest computers and digital facilities.
Frances Wadsworth, Principal and Chief Executive of Croydon College said: "This is an exciting time for both Croydon College and Croydon School of Art.
"With fabulous facilities and a newly appointed Head of School, Croydon School of Art once again inspires artists and designers and their work enhances the rich cultural and creative landscape of Croydon."
