Sir Bradley Wiggins has turned his attention to the Road World Championships on Wednesday after securing the Tour of Britain title on the streets on London yesterday.
The Olympic gold medallist, riding for Team Sky, finished 26 seconds ahead of his nearest rival over the eight-stage race – which included Saturday’s 155km jaunt from Epsom to Guildford via Leatherhead.
Wiggins, 33, led the Tour after winning the third stage time trial in Knowsley, while his fellow Brit Mark Cavendish won three stages – including the London finale – to finish 34th overall.
Wiggins said: “I said I wanted to win it. It is pressure for the whole week.
"Until you cross the line you just don't know. It's all right to think it's a bit of a ceremony round London, but it certainly isn't.
"You cross the line, you're pumped up. It's relief that you've finished and fulfilled it for your team and your team-mates."
