A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a policeman was killed in a hit-and-run collision on Friday.

PC Andrew Duncan, a Merton traffic police officer, died in hospital yesterday after he was run over in Reigate Avenue, Sutton, near Rosehill roundabout, in the early hours of September 20.

Gary Bromige, aged 25, of Holland Road, South Norwood has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving; failing to stop at the scene of an accident; failing to report an accident and driving without insurance.

He will appear in custody at South Western Magistrates Court later today.

Two men were arrested on the evening of Sunday 22 September in connection with the investigation. They are currently in custody at a south London police station.

On Saturday, a woman was arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She has since been bailed until a date in October.
