A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a police officer killed in a hit-and run on Friday.
Dad-of-two PC Andrew Duncan, a Merton traffic officer, was rushed to hospital on Friday morning after he was mowed down by a back Volkswagen Golf travelling at speed he had signalled to pull over.
The incident happened shortly before 1am on the A217 Reigate Avenue near the Rosehill junction in Sutton.
PC Duncan, known as Andy, died today in hospital from his injuries.
Metropolitan Police Commisioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, today led the tributes to the officer, who also volunteered with the scouts.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of PC Duncan's murder.
He attended a police station on Friday after the car was found abandoned in Morden.
He was initially arrested on suspicion of causing causing serious injury but was rearrested following PC Duncan's death.
Police have revealed in the past hour that a woman was arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of peverting the course of justice. She remains in custody at a south London police station.
Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command continue to investigate.
