A man and a woman broke their necks when they were thrown from a pony and trap after a crash with a car.
The pair were injured during a collision between their pony and trap and a car on the A22 in Surrey.
Surrey Police said a man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s from Croydon were both thrown from the trap at Blindley Heath at about 7.32pm on Friday.
The man was taken to St George’s Hospital in Tooting with lacerations to his face and what police described as “a serious broken neck”.
The woman was taken to East Surrey Hospital in Redhill with a fractured neck.
Police said the Volvo estate car was being driven by a man in his 60s from Buckinghamshire, who was uninjured.
