With London Fashion Week well under way, one Croydon schoolgirl took to the catwalk for a fashion show with a difference.

Hannah Assefa was pampered and underwent a full makeover before taking centre stage at the Wear it for Autism fashion show on September 10.

The event at London's Vinyl Factory, was organised by autism campaigner Anna Kennedy, for people who either have autism themselves or care for those living with the condition.

Hannah, 11, who has the condition was nominated by her mum Dawn for the pamper and makeover.

Miss Assefa said: "Hannah has always wanted to be an advocate for people with autism.

"A lot of people with autism cannot express themselves and she wants to speak up for them."

Over 200 guests attended the event including former Eastenders actor Joe Swash, Jazz FM DJ Nigel Williams and reality TV stars from The Apprentice and X factor.

Speaking about the experience, the Oasis Academy Coulsdon student said: "It was a pretty awesome day."
