Contrary to Andrew Pelling’s misleading assertions ('Croydon is the worst borough in England for collecting council tax') the Conservatives will always stand for value for money, unlike the party he is currently aligning himself with.

Croydon’s council tax collection rates currently stand at 96.2%, better than most Labour authorities in the capital, including neighbouring Lambeth.

And, they’re improving every year.

Unlike some local authorities that chose to write off debts, which boost their collection rates, we make sure we pursue every pound that is owed to us, no matter how far back the debt goes.

And, our top performing council tax benefit services continues to make sure nobody is claiming a discount they are not entitled to, which last year brought in an extra £1.26m income for the authority.

This is because we believe in value for money and a fairer society for all.

And that’s why we have managed to freeze council tax or kept rises to a minimum, while making sure that we protect and deliver vital services that matter most to Croydon residents.

Not only do we believe in value for money, we’re ambitious for Croydon.

We’re investing in new schools and a better education, new homes, new roads and infrastructure, new leisure centres and encouraging big business and start-ups to move to and invest here.

Croydon is on the up unlike Labour and Andrew Pelling who have no plans of their own, and who continue to show just how out of touch they are.

They can not be trusted to protect Croydon’s interests now or in the future.
