A labyrinth has been unveiled within the gardens of Princess Alice Hospice with a special ceremony.

The labyrinth is a path designed for reflection and relaxation and will help patients both spiritually and therapeutically.

Mayor of Elmbridge Councillor Mike Bennison and his wife Mary were joined by members of the community and hospice chaplain Reverend Dr Steve Nolan for the launch of the new labyrinth on Thursday, September 12.

The labyrinth will allow patients to spend time with friends and family in a different environment and members of the community are also free to visit.

Geraldine Worthington, a labyrinth guide at Princess Alice Hospice, said: “There is no right or wrong way to walk the labyrinth.

“Mostly people don’t know what to expect but I just tell people to walk slowly and breathe in on one step and out on the other step. A lot of people find it helps them to collect their thoughts.”
