Great news that the proposals for Mitcham town centre have been agreed.
It is clear that local people want to press ahead and it would be expensive and timewasting to stall this any further as some local groups have tried to do.
Of all the businesses I visited, every one of them wants the buses to go through and signed a petition to say so.
This evidence was submitted to Merton Council and completely contradicts the claims of the Heritage Group and Mitcham Society who suggest otherwise in your article.
Additionally local people have for the second time voted in favour - this is called a majority and surely it is time that this view is respected.
