Cyclists often get the brunt of motorist's anger.
But you might think twice about winding down the window to berate a tattooed man with a bowler hat riding a five-foot high penny farthing.
Many of the cyclists took the chance to dress up yesterday for the Seething Trycyclingathon.
Cloth caps, pipes and sheepskins harked back to the days when bicycles were the latest craze.
Normal people were allowed to take part too.
About 300 people turned out for three rides, including the vintage-themed route which saw a real penny-farthing take to Portsmouth Road.
They even managed to dodge the terrible weather.
Organiser Robin Hutchinson said: “We are knackered but it was good. It went surprisingly well.
“In fact we only had two or three light showers.”
