A 71-year-old man was among five cyclists who pedalled 54 miles from London to Brighton to raise money for Home-Start Elmbridge.

The charity, which works with families with young children, appealed in August for three riders to come forward after some supporters dropped out at the last minute.

Richard Callum saw the plea for riders in the newspaper and signed up alongside Gus Cowie, Tim Davies, David Nuttall and Victoria Hodges.

Earlier this year, the charity lost £2,000 after website Charity Giving, run by the Dove Trust, collapsed.

The five cyclists raised more than £3,500 for Home-Start Elmbridge and the charity are now seeking riders for next year’s London to Brighton and London to Paris rides.
