A grieving cat owner has given a warning to other pet owners after her beloved feline was mauled to death on her doorstep by a fox.
Tricia Temple, of Manor Road, Cheam, 36, is still in shock after she found her cat Fluffy with bite marks on her neck and her tail bitten off on the morning of August 30.
The cat had been attacked in the night by a fox, which left a trail of cat fur across the garden for a “mortified” Miss Temple to discover the next day.
Cat-lover Miss Temple, said she wants to warn other people about allowing their pets out at night.
She said: “The foxes seem to be fearless these days.
“They have become used to humans in the urban environment and they do not run away any more when you approach them.
“They are wild, and they will attack pets because they are smaller then them as it is their instinct.”
She said foxes have become an increasing problem in the area and the council need to do something about it, and suggested it issue humane fox traps to catch them so they can be released back in to the wild.
A Sutton Council spokesman said: “We would like to extend our sympathies over the loss of a beloved pet.
“We would suggest the matter is referred to the RSPCA for help and guidance."
