Now is your chance to try out some very special bikes and raise money for a brilliant charity for people with learning disabilities.

The Epsom Guardian launched the Shine On appeal in May for The Sunnybank Trust, based in St Barnabas Church, in Temple Road, Epsom.

So far we have raised £9,600 but must raise £75,000 by next April to allow it to continue running its weekly social club, a friendship programme and independent advocacy scheme.

Surrey Wheels for All, based in the Harrier Centre in Poole Road, West Ewell, has ridden to the rescue and is organising a fun-filled sponsored cycle event using its specially adapted cycles such as large side-by-side tandems, wheelchair carrying bikes, hand cycles and tricycles.

The 100 Lap Challenge, will take place at the centre on Saturday, September 14, from 2pm to 4pm, with a team of users, volunteers and staff aiming to complete 100 laps of a 400m course.

Dorothy Watson, of the trust, said people are welcome to come down and do as many sponsored laps as they like or to join the charity's team.

She said: "A large group of us will be trying to cycle around the athletics track, using the cycles for all abilities, so everyone can join in and help us reach our 100 laps target."
