A group of shoppers were stuck in a lift for almost an hour in Kingston yesterday afternoon.
About 10 people, including children and elderly customers, became trapped after the lift in the M&S Food store in Clarence Street broke down between floors.
Firefighters from Kingston were called at 5pm and spent 45 minutes freeing the trapped passengers.
A firefighter said some had been of the customers were left "quite distressed" by the ordeal.
