Youngsters enjoyed a fun-filled day of horse riding and activities at the Horse Rangers’ Association’s annual Gymkhana.

Along with showing off their riding skills, 400 children from the Hampton Court charity donned fancy dress outfits and played a range of games at the Bushy Park Stockyard on Sunday, September 1.

In the inter-squadron competition, squadron four came away winners, gaining the most points from the jumping and relay race, along with the dressage competition held earlier in the summer.

Mayor of Richmond Councillor Meena Bond presented some rangers with Jack Petchey awards.

Along with the usual riding activities, a squadron seven race was introduced, highlighting the skills of riders who have special needs and attend mainstream schools.

Squadron seven meets on Wednesdays throughout the year at Hampton Court Mews and alternate between riding and learning stable management and badge work.
