Tricksters stole £2,000 of holiday money from a young family.

A 33-year-old mum was putting her two children into her car, parked in the St Nicholas Centre car park, at 3.50pm on Thursday, August 8, she was approached by a man and a woman.

She had just been into town to pick up £2,000 worth of Euros from a pawn shop in Sutton High Street.

The couple pointed out there were nails on the ground behind her car but when the mum bent down to have a look the couple quickly left.

In the meantime the thieves had made off with her daughter’s large red and white Mini Mouse bag which contained the holiday money.

The pair are described as aged 30-40 and were wearing baggy clothing. The woman was wearing brown trousers and pink and white trainers.

Police are urging shoppers to be vigilant when withdrawing or carrying large sums of money.
