A large quantity of drugs worth £20,000 were discovered hidden in a loft by police who raided a residential address in Wallington .

The property near Bandon Hill Cemetery, was raided as part of operation Big Wing, a day of action cracking down on criminal activities on July 25.

Police believe the quantity of cannabis and cocaine seized had an estimate street value of around £20,000.

A 23-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs. He appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court on July 27.

The raid was in response to information received from members of the local community.

Policing activities as part of operation Big Wing included executing seven warrants around the borough resulting in three arrests for drugs, burglary, fraud and drink driving.

There were also road checks using automatic number plate recognition technology and licensing visits to ensure compliance with licensing conditions.

Inspector Phil Parrett who led the operation said: "We are determined to continue to be robust and relentless in the pursuit of criminals and to continue to make Sutton a low crime borough and one of the safest boroughs in London."
