The Stanley People's Initiative (SPI) is one of the first groups to be awarded a Heritage Lottery Fund Sharing Heritage grant.

£9000 pounds has been awarded to 'The Lives of Stanley Halls: Theatricals, Community and Entertainment' project in South Norwood.

The project is being led by SPI and aims to find out more about the past of Stanley Halls with a view to put on a touring exhibition around the local area.

Carol Clapperton, SPI chairwoman said: "It is great we have been awarded this grant. We love Stanley Halls and know there is so much more to discover about its secrets.

"The stories we have so far about the Halls have been a real insight into the buzz there once was in this grand building and that we hope to recreate. We really look forward to sharing these stories."

Volunteers are currently being sought to help with the project between September and November, and training will be offered on research techniques, recording oral histories and using digital media.
