A year has passed since London 2012 and thousands of cyclists will take to the boroughs roads to try to recapture some of the magic memories.

The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey cycle ride will see more than 20,000 amateur cyclists taking on a challenge like no other, travelling through London and on to Surrey on a similar route to the Olympic cycling road race.

The London – Surrey 100 race will begin at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park before travelling through the city and in to Richmond Park.

From the royal park, riders will continue into Kingston before arriving in Elmbridge, whizzing through East Molesey, West Molesey, Walton and Weybridge, then heading further into the depths of Surrey.

Elmbridge will be visited once again when cyclists carry on heading back to the city, taking in the scenery in Cobham, Esher, Thames Ditton and Long Ditton on their way.

Cyclists will start in waves between 6am and 8am, so there will be plenty of opportunity to head out and cheer on riders as they pass through the borough.

Later the same day, 150 of the world’s top cyclists will follow the same route for the London – Surrey Classic ride.

Among the top riders will be Tour de France Green Jersey winner Peter Sagan, with a total of 13 of the riders having taken part in this year’s Tour de France.

The cycling festival is expected to boost the number of active cyclists in the UK, attract hundreds of thousands of visitors to London and Surrey and raise funds for a range of charities.
