Although the sun is high in the sky, Surrey Community Music Society is looking ahead to Christmas, with planning for their two shows well under way.
The charitable group want singers from across Elmbridge to perform as guest artists in this year’s festive spectacular, staring in front of a 500-strong audience at the Epsom Playhouse on December 7.
Successful soloists will be backed by either the 130-member Elmbridge Choir, the 100-strong Elmbridge Ladies Choir or the Elmbridge Big Band.
Cliff van Tonder, the society’s musical director, hopes that this year’s concert will be the best yet.
He said: “Our Christmas concert is always the highlight of our year for us and each year we try to do something a little different.
“Having guest artists perform with us not only gives them an amazing opportunity but also keeps our concerts exciting and fresh.”
Two years ago, the society performed to a full audience at Woking’s New Victoria Theatre and were joined on stage by Bobby Davro for a rendition of New York, New York.
