Plant-lovers can experience a sub-tropical garden without having to go further afield than Cheam this weekend.

Brian West is opening his garden, complete with bamboos, tropical plants, tree ferns from Tazmania and more as part of the National Gardens Scheme.

Brian has been taking part in the initiative, which raises money for a range of charities, on and off for almost 20 years and many people have enjoyed his impressive foliage.

He will also be selling cakes, teas, coffees and plants to raise money for charity.

Brian West's garden; 87 Sandy Lane, Cheam, SM2 7EP; Saturday and Sunday, August 10 and 11, 1pm to 5.50pm; donation on the door.
