A man has been jailed for 20 weeks after not complying with the requirements of two previously imposed suspended prison sentences.
Christopher Rost-Aldridge, of no fixed abode, was given two consecutive suspended sentences, 18 weeks and two weeks suspended for 12 months, at Guildford Crown Court on Thursday, July 4.
A consecutive sentence means Rost-Aldridge will serve any sentences he is given one after the other.
The sentences, given early this month, relate to two offences which occurred in the borough, a theft and making off without payment.
Rost-Aldridge failed to attend a number of required probation services appointments and, as a result, was taken back before the court on Friday, July 26, when he was subsequently jailed.
Detective Sergeant Jon Hillard, from the North Surrey prolific and priority offenders unit, said: “Surrey Police works closely with the Surrey and Sussex Probation Trust and if offenders do not comply with the requirements of a court order, such as in this case, then we will have no hesitation in arresting them and putting them back before the courts.
“Rost-Aldridge was given the chance to change his ways by being handed suspended prison sentences but his refusal to engage has ensured he is behind bars for a number of months.”
