For a sociable, relaxing and entertaining weekend, don’t miss a festival which will bring the sounds of country music and American folk to Surrey.

Now in its 12th year, the Surrey Mini Bluegrass Festival is a not-for-profit event which will showcase a range of musicians of the genre in a quaint village hall over the weekend.

With two concerts, workshops on how to play the banjo, fiddle, mandolin and guitar, and a number of jamming sessions taking place, the festival "is run more like a party for a bit of fun", according to organisers, who want to whet people’s appetite for Bluegrass music, which has risen in popularity in recent years, thanks to singers such as Seasick Steve.

Music at the event will come from Old Grey Dogs, Chris Moreton, Ghost Town Showdown, Howard Burton, The Druthers Brothers and The Bow-Legged Skeeters.

The organisers say: "It’s a small, friendly festival where people can enjoy bluegrass music, relax, meet new people, meet up with old friends and listen to the music in a lovely location.

"The aim is to introduce bluegrass music to the Surrey area."

A raffle will be held on both days, with food, tea, coffee and soft drinks all available on site.

Just a 10 minute drive from Leatherhead station, there are plenty of local places to visit nearby.

Visitors must make their own accommodation arrangements.  There are camping facilities within a 30-minute drive.
