A man who collapsed while speaking to police after a brawl in Cobham has been named locally.

Paul Wigmore, 54, died due to coronary heart disease, a postmortem examination found.

He was driving a van after a brawl involving as many of 20 people, some wielding baseball bats, broke out in Hamilton Avenue at about 1.30am on Sunday, July 21.

Officers stopped Mr Wigmore in nearby Anyards Road and he collapsed while he was speaking to police.

Police and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service administered CPR on Mr Wigmore but he was pronounced dead at 2.45am.

The postmortem examination was carried out on Monday, July 22, which established Mr Wigmore died as a result of what may have been a pre-existing medical condition.

Tributes have flooded social networking websites and a remembrance group has been set up on Facebook following Mr Wigmore's death.

His son Neil Wigmore paid his respects to his father on his Facebook profile. He said: “Rip dad ure in the sky with the aeroplanes love u.”

Paul Gilbert posted: “Dont know where to start, too young, too nice, so many friends going to miss you mate as are a lot of people outside your immediate family. Criminal the way you were taken from your family. Sadly missed.”
