An MP congratulated a group of students on winning a philanthropy initiative.
The youngsters from Carshalton High School for Girls beat over 80 schools nationally in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative.
Four year 9 students made a presentation on how offenders can turn their lives around through education and won a £3,000 grant for a charity – the Prisoners’ Education Trust (PET).
Mr Brake said: “I would like to congratulate Carshalton High School for Girls for winning this prestigious award and in particular the four remarkable students whose hard work contributed to the success.
“It is great to see young people who are switched on and interested in charity work.
“Their winning-presentation certainly convinced me what a worthy charity PET is and the importance of support they offer to prisoners.”
The Youth Philanthropy Initiative is a programme aimed at providing young people with the skills to make a positive difference to their communities.
