A man who collapsed while speaking to police after a large brawl in Cobham on Sunday died due to coronary heart disease.

The man has not yet been formally identified but his next of kin have been informed.

As many as 20 people, some armed with baseball bats, were involved in the fight in Hamilton Avenue at about 1.30am on Sunday, July 21.

After the incident, a silver van was stopped by police in nearby Anyards Road and the driver collapsed while speaking to the officers.

Police and paramedics administered CPR but the man, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at 2.45am.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the incidents.

A man in his 40s who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and a man in his late teens who was arrested on suspicion of assault have both been released on bail until September 13 while the investigation continues.

A man in his 20s who was arrested on suspicion of affray on Sunday has also been released on bail pending further enquires.

Surrey Police said they were continuing to carry out a “through and extensive investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident”.
