Firefighters were called to a bonfire in Woodside last night.

The crew from Woodside fire station were called to Longhurst Gardens at 1.30am, after concerns were raised about a bonfire in a garden.

A crew spokesman said they were called out because the group of young people, aged in their late teens to early 20s, had started the fire but did not have the means to put it out.

He said: "They didn't have a hose or anything to put it out themselves. We put the fire out because they hadn't really thought it through."

Firefighters left the scene after half-an-hour.
