A motorbike and a scooter were stolen in separate incidents but police believe they may be linked.

A Triumph motorbike and a Piaggio scooter were taken from addresses in Carshalton overnight on July 19 and 20 and police think the same thieves may be responsible for both.

Officers have called on motorbike and scooter owners to make sure their vehicles are well-secured to stop them falling foul of the thieves.
The Triumph was taken from Fellowes Road and the Piaggio was taken from Welbeck Road.

Crime prevention officer Duncan Harris said: "Motorcycles and scooters can be an easy target for thieves if they are not secured as they can be wheeled away or bundled into a van in seconds.

The more security you can put around your bike, the less attractive it will be to thieves."

Police suggest people lock their bikes and use the steering lock, buy an alarm, immobiliser and secondary locks, secure bikes to a solid structure that cannot be moved, park bikes in well-lit areas and security mark it in as many places as possible.

If you have any information about the thefts in Carshalton, you can call police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
