Immigration police carried out warrants on shops and found cases where immigrants were working for free in exchange for board.
Police and UK Border Agency officials went into 10 licensed premises across Sutton as part of an investigation into people breaching the conditions of their stays in the country on Tuesday, July 16.
In two cases people were working without payment but were being given free lodging instead.
Officers also checked the shops were implementing the Challenge 25 initiative, which involves staff checking the IDs of people who look under 25.
