A new comedy series set in Sutton will attract businesses to the town, the council hopes.
Sutton will get its latest burst of on-screen fame when the new series of E4 comedy PhoneShop starts on Thursday.

The show is set in the town and was filmed on-location in the High Street earlier this year.
Sutton Council hopes the publicity will encourage other businesses to set up in town.

Councillor Jayne McCoy said: "Opportunity Sutton is our economic growth programme that is dedicated to attracting businesses to locate in the borough and bring jobs and prosperity.

"We are delighted that the makers of PhoneShop and so many other shows have seen the many qualities of Sutton and we are confident that even more businesses will want to come here when they see the vibrant lifestyle we offer."

Shows including Law & Order, Cockneys vs Zombies and Squeamish have all been filmed in the borough as well as scenes for an upcoming film starring Danny Dyer.

The PhoneShop set

PhoneShop has filmed two previous series in Sutton and producers say they were happy to film the third series on the High Street.

The series follows the antics of the staff of a fictional store PhoneShop.

To film the series a fake shop front was installed in the High Street and a production base was set up in the Sutton Point car park in Sutton Court Road.

The show's creator Phil Bowker said: "We’re excited for the return of PhoneShop and delighted we’ve been able to film in Sutton again – as always it’s been the perfect location with a little bit of everything we need, including a great High Street!"

PhoneShop airs on E4 from 10pm on Thursday, July 25.
