An accountant from Tooting Bec is embarking on a 1,500 mile bike ride from London to the Arctic Circle to raise money for a disabled cycling charity.

Lynne Medlock, 24, will be setting off from her Tooting Bec home with friend Marie Faithfull, 22, on August 10 to set off on a 1,500 mile cycling odyssey to Nordkapp in Norway.

The five-week adventure will involve wild camping and extreme conditions as the pair weave their way through six countries and challenging terrain including the wet and windy North Sea coastline and the hilly Norwegian fjords.

The pair have been preparing for more than nine months and are aiming to raise £2,000 for Wheels for Wellbeing, a London-based charity supporting people with disabilities and health conditions to cycle.

Miss Medlock said: "I have always had an itch for adventure but this is the toughest challenge I've ever attempted.

"I hope our efforts will inspire others to get out there and have the adventures they've been dreaming of.

"Wheels for Wellbeing has helped hundreds of people push through their own barriers and enjoy the fun and benefits of cycling.

"We want to raise money to support the charity's inclusive cycle sessions."
