Police are looking for more information after a man performed an indecent act in front of woman on a train.

British Transport Police detectives are appealing for more information after the man performed the act on a train between East Croydon and Purley Oaks stations on Sunday, May 19.

Investigators have now released CCTV images of a woman who could have witnessed the incident, which took place at about 12.55am.

A woman was asleep on a train travelling between East Croydon and Purley Oaks but was woken up by another passenger who told her a man had performed an indecent act next to her.

Officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the train.

A 25-year-old man from King’s Cross, London, has been arrested and bailed in connection with the incident until Thursday August 22.

Detective Sergeant Bob Stokoe said: “This was understandably a distressing experience for the victim, as well as other people who may have witnessed the incident.

“As part of our bid to build up a full picture of what took place, I’m urging anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to us.

“We’ve also taken the unusual step of releasing the CCTV image as we believe this woman could have key information that could help our investigation into this incident.

“We believe she could live in either the Purley Oaks or Reedham areas. If you are the woman pictured, or think you know her, please get in touch.”
