Children are invited to a fundraising race for Cancer Research UK.

Little Legs for Life will take place at Esher Rugby Club on June 8, at 2pm. Girls and boys are encouraged to run or walk as many 500m laps as they can to raise money.

The event was launched in 2009 when Hersham and Walton parents set up a fundraising group in memory of their friend Sarah Jack, who died of cancer aged 36.

The race and the group’s annual Pink Party have raised £80,000 so far.

Nancy Scott, chair of Walton’s Cancer Research UK group, said: “We wanted to find a way that children could get involved in fundraising that was fun as well as a great community event.

“We are hoping to break the £100,000 mark this year and need the community to help us achieve this.”

Families can bring a picnic for after the race. Registration is £6.50 per child, which includes a T-shirt and a medal.
