A mother from Wimbledon is set to jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Jemima Hassan, 25, will be free-falling at Salisbury airfield on July 20 with her mother and friend Hannah Randolph who are hoping to raise more than £1,500 by doing "the most ridiculous thing they could think of".

The trio were inspired to take part in the jump after Mrs Hassan's huband, Sal Hassan, 31, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis seven years ago.

She said: "We all have our own personal reasons for deciding to do this, but ultimately I think it is about seeing firsthand the effects of MS and how much impact it has on people's lives.

"We want to raise money obviously to help with research into new treatments and possible cures, but for me awareness is just as important."

Helen Dowdeswell, area fundraiser for the MS Society in London, said: "Jemima, her mum and Hannah are taking on an amazing challenge because of their personal connection to MS – aiming to raise both funds and awareness. We’d love more people to sign up and join them; we’re aiming to raise £10,000 from the day in July."
