Double MOBO award-winner YolanDa Brown will be bringing some soul and sass to Streatham’s Hideaway.

The acclaimed jazz saxophonist will be performing at the SW16 venue on April 13th.

YolanDa, from Barking in East London, is one of the UK’s most successful female jazz artists. In 2009, she became the first act to win “Best Jazz” at the MOBO awards for two consecutive years.

In April 2012 she released her first album April Showers May Flowers, which shot straight to Number 1 in the UK jazz charts.

YolanDa’s electric stage presence, sassy demeanour and glamorous exterior – combined with her exhilarating skills on the sax – has seen her tour with The Temptations and Errol Brown. She has also played with Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra and collaborated with huge jazz names Courtney Pine and Mica Paris.

She is a celebrity ambassador for HRH The Prince of Wales and The Prince’s Trust, and was invited to meet the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at Buckingham Palace. The University of East London awarded her with an honorary Doctor of the Arts certificate in 2010.

On the night, YolanDa will be playing a selection of reggae-infused soul and jazz numbers, accompanied by renowned jazz guitarist and singer CiYo Brown. She will showcase some of the soulful originals from her Number 1 album, as well as treating the crowd to fresh arrangements of classic tunes.
