An 8,000-strong crowd at London’s O2 Arena cheered young designer and entrepreneur Samantha Park when she was presented with the Spirit of London award (Sola).

The 25-year-old, a former Claremont and Feltonfleet pupil, who owns and runs the online jewellery and accessories store What’s About Town, won the achievement in fashion prize on Monday.

She launched her business at the age of 15.

Samantha has also designed a jewellery line, Kissika, herself. Her business is based in Virginia Water.

A number of celebrities including Cheryl Cole, Rita Ora and Paris Hilton have been seen wearing products made by Samantha’s company.

The Only Way is Essex’s Jessica Wright and Ricky Rayment, along with Russell Kane and Emily Atack presented Samantha with her award at the star-packed ceremony.

After she received the prize, Samantha said: “The Spirit of London is an amazing organisation which highlights the good work that young people do and I’m honoured to be part of something so worthwhile.”

The award was established in 2009 to honour young talents. The Sola youth movement is also aiming to tackle youth crime and poverty.

Before the ceremony, the shortlisted nominees met with Prime Minister David Cameron at 10 Downing Street.

He said: “These awards represent everything that is great about the young people of our country. They are a credit to their community and to their city.”

Samantha Park grew up in Surrey and was educated at the Claremont School in Esher and at Feltonfleet School in Cobham.
