A woman has been evicted from her home after being convicted of racial abuse and beating someone up.

The tenant was evicted from Gatley Avenue, in West Ewell, on November 15 following a string of complaints over noise nuisance, verbal abuse and intimidation to neighbours.

Stacey Lewis was found guilty of a racially aggravated public order offence in 2011 and convicted of assault in July for punching and head butting a woman.

Lewis also took just six days to breach an Acceptable Behaviour Contract issued by Rosebery and Epsom & Ewell’s Safer Neighbourhood Team in May 2011.

Following the court cases and other serious anti-social behaviour, legal proceedings were started to evict her and Rosebery Housing Association (RHA) got permission to take possession of the property.

Sergeant Gary Pickett, of Surrey Police, said: "We take anti-social behaviour very seriously and this sends out a clear message that such behaviour will not be tolerated.

"This successful eviction is due to the great effort of all parties concerned and showed great partnership working between the housing association, Surrey Police and the local residents."

Deborah Pike, chief executive of RHA, said: "I’d like to thank the local community and Epsom and Ewell’s Safer Neighbourhood Team for working closely with us to bring this action.

"When dealing with the problem of anti-social behaviour, evidence from the community and the police is so important in enabling us to address it.

"We will take action where necessary to ensure that a few don’t spoil it for the majority of residents who just want to get on and enjoy their lives."
