A mother lost three stones in 10 months so she could give the best possible care to her daughter who is battling a disabling condition that causes extreme fatigue.

Alison Cutts, 42, from Stoneleigh, has been given a new lease of life and even ran 10k last month to raise money and awareness for M.E., which affects her daughter Georgia, 18.

Ms Cutts shifted the weight between January and October by joining Weight Watchers as well as taking up Zumba dancing and running.

She said: "I felt that not only did I need to be fit and healthy for myself, but I needed to be able to give the best care to my daughter, who suffers from M.E.

"Now I feel much fitter and healthier, like I can take on any challenge! My clothes are more comfortable too."

Ms Cutts ran the 10k, at Sandown Park, on November 23, to help the local M.E. support group and charity Action for M.E.

She said: "It was an amazing feeling to cross the finish line in 1 hour and 4 minutes! Something I never could have done without losing the weight."

Ms Cutts advised other dieters that Weight Watchers really works and that exercise speeds up weight loss.

She said: "If I can lose weight and learn to run, anyone can! You just need a little bit of willpower and the support of a fantastic family and amazing friends like mine!"

Lisa Rothery, Weight Watchers leader Stoneleigh, paid tribute to her efforts saying she ran the 10K for a wonderful cause.

Ms Rothery said: "I truly think she is an amazing woman and would inspire others to lose weight and have a healthier lifestyle."
